Katy Perry On Your iPod

I have to admit that I am a sucker for cheesy pop music, but I can't seem to get into Katy Perry for some reason. I do like upbeat pop songs, but her's seem a little bit lame and unrealistic to me. I do have to qualify that with the fact that it did not stop me from downloading some of her songs onto my iPod, but I still am not sure how I feel about them. If you like Katy Perry, then you definitely may like to know that she grew up singing in church, and she got her musical talent from Christian gospel.

That's pretty interesting for someone who sang a song called "I Kissed a Girl". I guess she has changed quite a bit since then! Now she is a number one artist, but oddly enough, the first album that she ever released was also in Christian gospel. Her music is much different now, and you can pretty much see her everywhere - MTV, award shows, you name it. I know many people love her and probably have all of her music on their iPods, but for myself, the jury is still out. Are you a Katy Perry fan?

My New Fave On My Playlist

I am the type of person that watches VH1 and other music channels, so judge me if you want, but I always get the heads up on new artists on the rise. One of my new favorites that is starring on my iPod playlist currently is Charlotte Sometimes, who has fun and interesting girly music like I have never heard before. She is from Pennsylvania, and she actually took her name from a children's book written in 1969.

Her debut album is called Waves and the Both of Us, and it is said to sound like a mix of Fiona Apple, Jeff Buckley, and Billie Holiday. The album is supposed to tell a story of all of the different currents that run through our lives, some being dramatic and some being uplifting. Charlotte has an onstage persona that makes her an interesting and seductive performer. My very favorite song by her is "How I Could Kill a Man", which is a lyric from a Cyprus Hill song. That's pretty interesting if you think about it, because this songstress was able to take a classic rap song and make it into a melodic hit. "Killing" is supposed to be a metaphor, by the way, so don't worry!

Bargain Shopping For iPods

This may seem like a totally weird thing to do, but I had a really great idea to check out to see what kind of iPods they had on eBay so that I could get one for my mom. I really didn't have the cash to buy her a completely brand-new iPod, so I thought that eBay was always the best bet when you are looking for a sweet deal. Of course, you don't always get what you are looking for, and the iPod itself was kind of sketchy.

I actually decided to get it repaired online for her before I gave it to her, and she was so happy with the gift! My mom herself is technologically backwards, so it is really funny to see her sporting an iPod everywhere she goes. She'll listen to it while she knits, and while my dad watches TV, so it is the perfect little distraction for her. I knew that she really wanted to get an iPod, but she probably thought it was too frivolous to buy, so that is why it was the best gift. If you are looking to bargain shop for an iPod, then definitely check out eBay, but beware that it may be too good to be true...
