Shape Up With This iPhone App

When it comes to getting in shape for the holidays, it can often require quite a bit of motivation on your part. And how are you even supposed to find the extra time between holiday parties, family gatherings, and happy hour after work with friends who have come into town? One of the easiest ways to get your butt in gear is to use the FitnessBuilder app on your iPhone!

This is a handy exercise app that has images, videos, and pre-planned workouts. This is something that is going to help you out if you only have 20 minutes to spare per day, and it will also give you the option to tone up within just a few days before the new year. This is a more expensive app at almost $20, but it is worth it because it is like investing in your own personal trainer. One of the main motivating factors of using this app is that it is incredibly convenient. You can carry it around with you anywhere you are, and you can also estimate how many calories you have burned over the holidays. This is something that will keep you in shape, even when visiting your family for Christmas!

Helpful Workout iPhone App

This is actually not another iPhone fitness app because believe me, I have downloaded plenty of them. I do get Women's Health magazine on a regular basis, and I did see an advertisement for their new iPhone app. This app is called Women's Health Workouts. It has 120 different exercises, and you can use them all to create your own fitness plan.

I will tell you the reason that this app is so appealing to me. I really like working out, but many times, I have to take a bulky fitness book with me to the gym so that I can see all of the exercises that I need to do. The only other option is to hire a personal trainer, which can get pretty expensive. This is the perfect app because it is like having your own personal trainer within your tiny iPhone. The exercises are really clear and easy to do because they have pictures and detailed instructions. There also is a little feature within the app that allows you to track all of your progress. I am absolutely loving this app because it is helping me mix up my workouts so that I'm not bored anymore, especially since there is so much to choose from!

What's Not To Love About Yoga?

I finally decided to expand my workout repertoire and check out some yoga at my local gym. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was not the only man in the class, though many of them looked to be very old men hoping to keep in shape. But that's their prerogative! I myself was skeptical, but those old men really knew what they were doing because they lasted way longer in the class than I did. I had read in my Men's Health that men have much less flexibility than women, and I can attest to the fact that is true, simply because I could hardly lift my leg out to my side.

I enjoyed the fact that it was so relaxing and stimulating in different ways, especially since I mostly rely on weightlifting for my own personal fitness, but by the end of the class, I definitely was dripping in sweat. This doesn't mean that I'm going to give up because there is a yoga class at my gym like three days a week, so I still have the opportunity to get back on the horse, so to speak, and try to class again. Maybe this time I'll actually be able to do the downward dog!
