Your iPod Improves Your Fitness

If you are hoping to improve your fitness level and stay in shape for the holidays, then you better get your iPod full of amazing music! Recent studies have shown that listening to the right music will make your workout more efficient. Since you can expect to be ingesting thousands of calories on Thanksgiving day, you can also take preemptive measures against this potential weight gain by using music to help you work out smarter.

It seems that most recently, Nike and Apple have been working together to promote this combination regarding music and exercise. According to research, it seems that runners in London who were running a half marathon enjoyed listening to their iPods or live music when they were running. However, it is important which songs you choose for your iPod because they do need to be motivating and have musicality, association, rhythm response, and cultural impact. This basically means that you need to choose something that will keep you motivated and pumped up when you're exercising, and it is also helpful if it is a current and popular song that you like. The runners in the study also performed better when the rhythm of the song matched their cadence or heartbeat.

Lady Gaga on My iPod

Maybe I am a little bit behind the times, but I have finally gotten to the point where I am a huge Lady Gaga fan. First of all, I did see her last season on American Idol when she performed. I actually had no idea who she was, but nowadays, all you have to do is turn on the radio, and you will hear five songs in a row from her.

I decided to take matters into my own hands, and I downloaded her latest album onto my iPod. Normally, I am the type of person that only likes pop hits that I've heard before on the radio. I have no idea why that is, but I guess they just stick in my head, and I end up preferring them. I decided to take the time to delve into her album, and I really liked what I heard! I am sad that she is canceling her tour with Kanye, but it seems that they may not have been a good duo anyway. I guess I will have to wait for her to tour on her own because I really would love to see her in concert. For anyone who likes some of her pop hits on the radio, I strongly recommend you download the album!

iPod Spa Music Playlist

One of my favorite things about my iPod is how incredibly useful it is. My sister works as an esthetician at a spa, and she was talking to me about how she wants to get some spa music to play while she is doing treatments on her patients. Of course, the music definitely needs to be very soothing and relaxing because it is for the spa environment. Her and I put our heads together, and we ended up creating a wonderful playlist with soothing iPod music that she could play during her spa treatments.

She went so far as to hook up a small iPod dock in her treatment room so that she could easily play all of her music. This is much more advanced than many estheticians because I have gone to several spas where they simply have a boombox with a CD of nature music. This is much classier than that, and all she had to do was get an iPod dock and fill her iPod up with a playlist of soothing songs. She chose music like Dido, Sade, and Brian Eno. She also downloaded different nature sounds, like water, waves, and wind, so that it could be soothing and relaxing for her clients.

Black Eyed Peas On My iPod

I was very surprised at how much I loved the newest Black Eyed Peas song that I heard on the radio. I had to go home immediately and download it onto my iTunes so that I could put it on my iPod. The funny thing was that when I heard this song on the radio, I didn't even know that it was the Black Eyed Peas! In the spirit of things, here are some fun facts about the Black Eyed Peas:

The Black Eyed Peas started in LA, and there are four members within the group. They had their first album in 2003, and it was a huge hit that sold 20 million albums all over the world. They are only 1 out of 11 groups that have had the number 1 and number 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 charts simultaneously. Their newest singles are Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling. If you have turned on your radio lately, then you will probably know that both of these singles have been topping the charts for 25 weeks at a time, which is longer than any other artist has ever achieved in history. To mix it up, download some of Fergie's solo music to your iPod!

Glee Soundtrack For Your iPod

If you have not yet noticed Glee on Fox, then you are definitely going to love checking out this musical comedy on primetime TV. First of all, it is going to have an amazing soundtrack that you can download to your very own iPod. So far, we have seen Gold Digger, Don't Stop Believin', and a few other hits. I personally love the musical aspect of this show, which was pretty unexpected to me.

Most of the time, you see musical theater as being pretty boring, but this show gives you the juicy high school elements that you love to watch as a guilty pleasure. This show has all of the stereotypes, the jock, the snotty cheerleader, the dorky smart girl, and even the gay kid in the closet. I can predict that all lovers of the show are going to really enjoy downloading the soundtrack to their iPods because it is a fun twist on many classic hit songs. It is also commendable that they take the time to incorporate such hip music into this show, which is musical theater like I have never seen before. Maybe if high school really was like this, then more people would join the Glee club!

iPod Personal Fitness

Using my iPod when I'm out and about is one of my favorite things by far, and I am lucky enough to live in an area that has a lot of natural parks. Don't get me wrong, when it is the summertime, I definitely have to plan my hikes early in the morning so that I don't die of heat stroke, but it is still worthwhile. I have found myself getting in much better shape as a result of using my iPod to motivate me when I'm hiking, and I also get to bring my dog with me too.

I tried to get my girlfriend to come with me, but she prefers to do those girly types of exercises like Yoga and Pilates. Oh well, to each his or her own, I guess. Either way, using my iPhone to motivate me to get outdoors is something that has helped both my dog and I get in incredible shape. I have to admit that I was one of those guys that was totally guilty of sitting on the couch and playing video games all the time, so those extra pounds just crept up on me. Using my iPhone to work out and hike with was the perfect solution for me!

Do iPods Help in Surgery?

This is a pretty interesting subject matter, but it seems that it helps to listen to your iPod during surgery. If you or someone you know has a surgery on the horizon, then you can reference this interesting story about a teen who used his iPod to get through brain surgery. This 18-year-old young man was getting a brain tumor removed, but he needed to be awake through the entire operation to ensure that there would be no brain damage in the process. I don't know about you, but that seems like a pretty scary idea to me!

These surgeons had the great idea to play his iPod over the operating room speakers so that he would be able to focus on music and relax during the procedure. This went very well for the young man, especially since it was the second time that he was having the surgery because the entire brain tumor was not taken out during the first surgery.

Regardless, for any of your needs, it pays to have pro iPod help to keep your device going strong, especially if you have an upcoming surgery. Milliamp.com is now BBB accredited, so check out the advanced repair services available through this website with BBB accreditation!

Hear New Elton John on Your iPod

I have been a long time Elton John fan, so I'm always on the lookout for his new musical endeavors. Of course, he has so many amazing classics that I would be hard-pressed to find anything that I didn't want to listen to, but I do love to hear his new stuff as well. I have to qualify that by saying that I was not a fan of The Lion King soundtrack in any way, but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one because it was a children's movie. It wasn't necessarily supposed to be a chart topping wonderful album full of hits, so no big deal.

The latest news for Elton John is that he is guesting on Alice in Chains' new album in three different collaborations. They specifically sent him the track to request his presence, and he was on board because he loved the way it sounded. This may be something that you would have never expected, which is precisely why I want to download this awesome album to my iPod as soon as it's available. Anyone else who's thinking what I'm thinking can look forward to the September 29 release. Can't wait!

Today is Pedicure Day!

Getting a pedicure is truly one of the simpler pleasures in life, and today is that day for me! I decided to take my lunch break and reward myself for all of my hard work because you have to do that from time to time. My favorite little pedicure place is, of course, run by Asian men, which makes for an amazing pedicure, if you ask me. The person who did my pedicure last time is named "John", but he doesn't speak any English at all, so I doubt that was his real name...

Regardless, I get to take my sweet time and listen to some new songs on my iPod while I have my feet and legs rubbed and massaged. There is absolutely no better way to spend your afternoon, especially when you come out with some beautifully painted toenails, feeling more relaxed than you usually would sitting at your desk. Pedicures in general give me a little boost of self confidence because I get to look with pride at my flawless toenails for a few weeks until they start to chip. This is the time that I get all to myself where I make a point not to think about anything else, except how much I deserve it!

I Am Not a Cat Person

But my boyfriend is, so what is a girl to do? I'm not technically allergic to cats, but I'm totally tempted to lie about that if it will get me out of spending time with my boyfriend's cat. Obviously, I do spend a lot of time at his house, and he really loves his cat. This means that she will sit between us when we are watching TV together, and she even has the audacity to jump on the table when we are eating. He is the type of person that loves his animal way too much, which is probably how I would act if it was my dog, but definitely not with a cat.

The only thing that I can do is when I am laying on the couch reading a book, I put in my iPod so that I can listen to music while I read, just so that I don't have to listen to this cat lick itself and cough up hair balls. This is one small thing that saves me from going over the edge because I do want to be supportive and try to love or even like his cat a fraction of how much he does. I'm hanging by a thread!

Bargain Shopping For iPods

This may seem like a totally weird thing to do, but I had a really great idea to check out to see what kind of iPods they had on eBay so that I could get one for my mom. I really didn't have the cash to buy her a completely brand-new iPod, so I thought that eBay was always the best bet when you are looking for a sweet deal. Of course, you don't always get what you are looking for, and the iPod itself was kind of sketchy.

I actually decided to get it repaired online for her before I gave it to her, and she was so happy with the gift! My mom herself is technologically backwards, so it is really funny to see her sporting an iPod everywhere she goes. She'll listen to it while she knits, and while my dad watches TV, so it is the perfect little distraction for her. I knew that she really wanted to get an iPod, but she probably thought it was too frivolous to buy, so that is why it was the best gift. If you are looking to bargain shop for an iPod, then definitely check out eBay, but beware that it may be too good to be true...

Risk Your Life for Your iPod?

Does that sound like something that you would do? I actually read an article about a 16-year-old girl who dropped her iPod in the street, and then she dove in front of a moving vehicle to save it. As funny as that sounds, it is actually true, and I'm sure that her parents were horrified that she risked her life just for her precious iPod. Maybe Apple could actually use this incident in their marketing or commercials because it shows that saving your iPod is worth the risk of death.

I myself have to admit that I would be really upset if my iPod got run over, and maybe if I was in the right frame of mind, I would even automatically jump out to save it. Luckily, the car that was coming at her had good breaks so she was completely okay, and her iPod was saved! Let's just hope that she takes better care of her iPod from now on so that she doesn't risk jumping in front of any more moving vehicles and endangering herself. My thought is that she must have spent a whole lot of money on her iPod and didn't want to lose her investment! Is that so wrong?

Unpleasant Road Trips

I know that road trips have the stigma of being a fun and awesome time where you can let the wind blow in your hair and be totally carefree. I am sure that is possible, but I have to confess that overall, most of my road trips have been a drag where I am driving through a seriously boring part of the country to visit a family member for a holiday, etc.

One perfect example of this is when my boyfriend and I drove to Oklahoma to see my parents for Thanksgiving. The drive in itself was about nine hours, and we didn't want to take too much time off of work, so we only stayed overnight. That means about 18 hours of driving within 48 hours -- yikes! It may have been okay if we were looking over delightful scenery or sites, but no offense to those from this area of the US, but Oklahoma seems to be pretty flat and boring. Where my parents live is actually beautiful, with rivers and hills and trees galore, but this drive did absolutely nothing for us. The only saving grace was all of the music that I had put on my iPod that we could listen to for hours to keep us entertained. A small silver lining...

What Would You Do For a Box of Rocks?

Okay, so the most interesting iPod story that I've heard lately is one that is almost unbelievable. Apparently, a few years ago, there was a 14-year-old girl in -- ahem- Texas, whose parents bought her a brand-new iPod from Target for a gift. She, of course, was very happy to open it up, and when she did so, she found... a box full of rocks! Possibly a practical joke, but no one could really understand how they got in there and why there was no iPod to be found. I can't think of anything more depressing than getting extremely excited for an awesome birthday present and then opening it to find... rocks. That is the kind of thing that they warn you about when you're a little kid so you don't misbehave and get coal in your stocking. But the story gets better! The family, of course, angrily took the iPod back to Target, and they were forced to actually exchange and purchase a new one before they could open another box. So, they went through the entire exchange process and then purchased another iPod and open it in the store to find another... box of rocks! The girl ended up exchanging the second box of rocks for store credit and kissing her iPod dream goodbye. Boo.
