iPod Personal Fitness

Using my iPod when I'm out and about is one of my favorite things by far, and I am lucky enough to live in an area that has a lot of natural parks. Don't get me wrong, when it is the summertime, I definitely have to plan my hikes early in the morning so that I don't die of heat stroke, but it is still worthwhile. I have found myself getting in much better shape as a result of using my iPod to motivate me when I'm hiking, and I also get to bring my dog with me too.

I tried to get my girlfriend to come with me, but she prefers to do those girly types of exercises like Yoga and Pilates. Oh well, to each his or her own, I guess. Either way, using my iPhone to motivate me to get outdoors is something that has helped both my dog and I get in incredible shape. I have to admit that I was one of those guys that was totally guilty of sitting on the couch and playing video games all the time, so those extra pounds just crept up on me. Using my iPhone to work out and hike with was the perfect solution for me!

What's Not To Love About Yoga?

I finally decided to expand my workout repertoire and check out some yoga at my local gym. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was not the only man in the class, though many of them looked to be very old men hoping to keep in shape. But that's their prerogative! I myself was skeptical, but those old men really knew what they were doing because they lasted way longer in the class than I did. I had read in my Men's Health that men have much less flexibility than women, and I can attest to the fact that is true, simply because I could hardly lift my leg out to my side.

I enjoyed the fact that it was so relaxing and stimulating in different ways, especially since I mostly rely on weightlifting for my own personal fitness, but by the end of the class, I definitely was dripping in sweat. This doesn't mean that I'm going to give up because there is a yoga class at my gym like three days a week, so I still have the opportunity to get back on the horse, so to speak, and try to class again. Maybe this time I'll actually be able to do the downward dog!
