iPod touch 3rd generation Glass Digitizer Repair

Part price: $29.00

When the glass on your iPod touch is broken, send it to us and we can get it fixed in record time!

Replacing the glass and digitizer in this iPod takes expertise, and we have the talent in house to quickly remove your old, damaged glass and digitizer and replace it with a brand new one. So if you have an iPod that works great, but the display is damaged in some way, add this item to your cart and let us do the rest.

Note: We strongly recommend that you send your device to us for installation of your new glass/digitizer, but if you feel up to the challenge, and want to install the new glass yourself, select the 'self-installation' option above, and we will send your glass screen instead of expecting your device to be sent to us for repair. This tells us that you understand that there will be no tools or instructions with your glass and you want to install the glass yourself. However, if you really do want us to install the glass for you, choose from our other options depending on your needs.

If sending in your device, please be aware that the amount of time it takes for us to address each device varies, but we strive for quick turnaround times in all cases. Our best estimate for your turnaround time will be included in the email you will receive when your device arrives in our facility to help set your expectations accordingly.

Please indicate below whether your iPod touch is a First, Second, or Third Generation model. The first Generation iPod touch does not have exterior volume controls. The second Generation iPod touch does have volume controls on the side of the device, and displays model number A1288 on the back, while the third Generation iPod displays model number A1318. Sorry if this is confusing – just contact us if you are still not sure which generation iPod touch you have and we can help you figure it out!

If you do not have the 3rd Generation iPod touch, click here for the 1st Generation iPod touch, here for the 2nd Generation iPod touch, or here for the 4th Generation iPod touch.

More about the iPod touch 3rd generation

The 3rd generation iPod Touch represents a compact way to store your music, pictures and video. Though it lacks the camera newer models have, it does a small form factor at 4.3 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.33 inches with a weight of just 4.05 ounces. 3rd generation iPods have a storage capacity of 32GB or 64GB, which means that they can hold a maximum of 14,000 songs, 90,000 iPod-compatible photos or 80 hours of video.

The 3rd generation iPod supports 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 and maps location-based services. With a 3.5-inch widescreen multi-touch display, it enables you to find utility that wasn't available before this generation of iPod Touch was released.

Although this generation of iPod Touch tends to be hardy, there are a variety of problems that might make iPod Touch 3rd generation repair worth finding.

The most common problem with the 3rd generation iPod Touch is that it won't turn on. While this can sometimes be solved by pressing and holding the “Sleep” button, it may require the replacement of the battery, a new display or the replacement of the logic board.

Troubleshooting should occur in the order of the items listed, as they represent solutions that are listed from cheapest and most common first.

Another common issue with the 3rd generation iPod Touch is that the touch input becomes unresponsive. This represents a more serious problem and typically requires the touch screen itself or the logic board to be replaced.

Audio problems represent the third most common issue with the 3rd generation iPod touch. While you can generally just replace the speakers of headphones to correct this, sometimes the audio jack breaks and requires replacement before audio issues can be resolved.

Of the more common problems, the appearance of the restore icon upon starting the iPod Touch is the last problem worth mentioning due to the frequency that owners encounter it. Corrupted software could be the cause of this, which means that you would need to restore the software using iTunes. If it persists after a few attempts to correct the software with iTunes, then it's usually caused by a malfunctioning logic board that requires replacement.

If you suspect your iPod has water or liquid damage, we suggest setting up an order for our repair evaluation as itís possible that a battery alone will not solve the problems that youíre having.
